I duplicated a product in Shopify (new SKU) and want to move reviews from the original product. I can't group them because it groups unrelated SKUs. Is there a way to reassign reviews manually or another workaround?

Hi @Compound Cosmetics ,

Shopify doesn’t allow direct reassignment of reviews to a new product, especially when using a different SKU. However, here are a couple of workarounds:

  1. Manually re-import reviews: If you're using an app like Judge.me or Loox, export the original product's reviews, then re-import them under the new product’s handle or ID.

  2. Use product grouping (if app supports it): Some review apps let you group products manually even with different SKUs just make sure unrelated SKUs aren't included.

  3. Contact your review app’s support: They may offer a manual solution to reassign reviews.

Let me know which review app you're using, and I can give you more specific steps!

Hi @mike digital101 - great question, hopefully I can help here.

If you’re using a review app like Okendo, Loox, Yotpo, Judge.me, or Stamped, etc., most of them don’t allow native Shopify review migration between products with different SKUs automatically. However, there are workarounds:

1. Manual Export/Import (CSV)

  • Export reviews from the original product.
  • Edit the product_handle or product_id in the CSV to match the new product.
  • Re-import the file using your review app’s import tool.

2. App Support Request

  • Contact the review app’s support. Many apps offer to manually migrate or merge reviews for you if SKUs change due to product duplication.

3. Group by Handle (If App Allows)

  • Some review apps (like Judge.me) allow grouping reviews by product_handle instead of SKU or product ID. You can try setting the same handle on both products (though this might affect SEO or URLs).
